So who is Liesie?

Hi there! 😉 My name is Thurlize and I have a passion and a love for traveling. I was born in a small town in South Africa, about a 3-hour drive away from Cape Town. Growing up in South Africa, a country with some of the world's most astonishing beaches and safaris and hikes, it should come as no shock that I fell in love with traveling from a very young age and since I can remember I have always dreamed of visiting places from across the world.

​In 2020, a year of so much pain, devastation and uncertainty, I took a leap! Little by little, my world was transformed, and doors opened that changed my outlook on life and even the course of my life. I went from a small-town girl, having never left my country, to booking and international flight to come and live on the other side of the world, exploring as I go and broadening my horizons. I became an Au Pair for what I thought at the time would be one year, little did I know what lay just beyond that year mark and the journey that I would be on today.

Now, two years after moving to the USA, I said goodbye to the Au Pair program, I am married to my best friend and soulmate, living in South Carolina (where we are stationed, as my husband is in the military) and from all my travels and memories made, Living with Liesie was born.

My hope through “Living with Liesie” is to share my stories and connect with people from across the world who share my love of travel and to have you join in on the fun! I want to share that following your heart and traveling the world is not some unattainable dream, in fact, we can all do it, every day.
